Microneedling Care
Pre/Post Care
What to do to prepare for microneedling?
-
Microneedling is not safe for pregnant women or breastfeeding/lactating patients.
-
Avoid Aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications (i.e. Ibuprofen, Aleve), blood thinners, herbal supplements, Vitamin E, and Fish Oil for at least one week prior to and the day of microneedling to minimize bruising risk- you may restart these the day following your treatment.
-
Avoid Laser procedures, IPL, unprotected sun exposure, or sunburn at least 2 weeks before your procedure.
-
No waxing or depilatory creams to the area being treated 5-7 days prior.
-
Avoid excessive exercise, sweating or exposing the skin to heat for 72 hours post microneedling.
-
You can numb your face at home for 30 minutes with 5% Lidocaine topical cream after cleansing your face thoroughly with a foaming cleanser. The numbing cream will be removed upon arrival for treatment. This step is optional if you choose. This can also be done upon arrival in the treatment room.
-
Continue to use SPF when exposed to sun light.

What to expect post-microneedling?
-
Most people will experience redness and mild swelling to a deeper sunburn like rash. There may also be small areas of pinpoint bleeding and even some bruising, which can last 24-48 hours. The redness usually begins to subside after a few hours and can be covered with makeup 48-72 hours post treatment. Minor peeling and flakiness can occur after a few days. It is important for patients not to pick on loose skin. Within a week or two, the skin is smoother and more radiant looking.
